Telltale wants to continue making The Walking Dead games

Telltale Games, who is currently developing episodic adventure game The Walking Dead, would like to continue making more games themed around the hit graphic novel and AMC television show after the current five-episode story concludes.

Given that Activision just announced a new first-person shooter game revolving around The Walking Dead TV show on AMC, I don't think the latter will be possible for Telltale. Telltale isn't threatened by its upcoming release though.

"As huge fans of the franchise and the show, we're looking forward to seeing Terminal Reality's game when it comes out," senior vice president of marketing Steve Allison told Eurogamer.

Meanwhile, Telltale's current The Walking Dead game is doing quite well.

"Our first episodic game series based on The Walking Dead has sold nearly 1.7 million episodes to consumers in just our first eight weeks with no signs of slowing down," Allison said. In the first two weeks of release,

Episode Two - Starving for Help released just last week and although sales numbers haven't yet been released, Telltale has already announced that Episode Three - Long Road Ahead will launch sometime in the "middle of August".

While Activision's new game will center on series regular Daryl Dixon and his brother Merle, The Walking Dead from Telltale focuses on an entirely new character and story set in the same world of Robert Kirkman's award-winning comic book series. It follow the story of Lee Everett, a man convicted of a crime of passion.

In the meantime, Telltale will work on bringing the current season to retail.

"Following the digital release of our fifth episode we will also be coming to North American retail shortly thereafter and this will not be the last The Walking Dead game series that we do," Allison concluded.
